Promoting New Etsy Shop

I am currently doing a promotion to get the word out about my new Etsy shop. To the first 25 people to add my shop or one of its items to their etsy favorites I am giving a discount to their next order (excluding shipping).
If you don't have an etsy account, I would highly encourage you to get one. There are some really awesome shops out there.
So head on over to my Rosy Cheek Boutique Etsy Shop and take a look at the items and let me know which ones are your favorite. Or you can just select to add the whole shop as your favorite. I'll keep a look out for you and send you a code via etsy conversations.

Have a wonderful day.

Craft Fair

Well the craft fair is over and done with. I'm glad that we did it as a family thing and not as a need-to-make-money thing. There were over 60 vendors there and we were lucky to have a booth at the front door, which meant we saw everyone going in and out of the building. Unfortunately, the fair didn't seem very well publicized. It seemed everyone we met either were vendors or were related to a vendor. I.e. they were there to sell, not to buy. There were some really awesome things there like birdhouses, clocks made of old boots, candles, scripture covers, and more. We should have just swapped items. (Of course I didn't think of this until after the event.)
I had a good time with the fair anyhow, meeting new people and seeing the pride people take in making something from nothing but basic materials and creativity.

After the craft fair.
I'm so glad that it's all over. I've posted some of the items that didn't find a home on my esty shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/RosyCheekBoutique. I've got tons of housework to do. The neverending pile of laundry and dishes are exhausting and discouraging. I never seem to make a dent. My two year old daughter is on the latter end of potty training, so there are still extra clothes to wash. Speaking of which, I swear she just grew 2-3 inches overnight! It seems all of her pants are suddenly too short for her. She's still too skinny to move up a size, so if anyone has any advice on how to lengthen her pants without them looking dorky or obvious please share.

Also, this is my first time using etsy. I've been getting many emails from them on advice on running one of their shops, but if any of you have any real-life and reliable tips, please share these as well.

My two year old being a model of the Razzel Dazzel skirt and her Daddy's 3-in-1 benches. (All benches have found homes, but we're willing to make more)

MIL sitting pretty at our booth.

Cousin-in-law showing off her way cute crocheted headbands and attachable flowers. And my two year old trying to sneak more candy.

The Clock is Ticking Still

11 more days until the craft fair. I'm so not prepared. Maybe next time, when I didn't just have a baby, or I didn't just finish recovering from 9 months of Hyperemesis Gravidarum, I'll be a bit more prepared.

For now I've nearly finished a few Razzel Dazzel Skirts from sizes 3months to 24 months. I've wanted to make a few basic skirts and a handful of Stripwork skirts, but we'll see what time (and my 2 babies) allow me. I have been working on a pattern for infant clip-on ties. I should have some ties ready for the craft fair, but if you are interested in the pattern, it'll be only a bit longer before I will have patterns ready to print.

We're doing the booth as a family thing. My mother-in-law is making awesome kids aprons. My cousin-in-law is making adorable crocheted hats. My sweet husband has been working on step stools (mostly because I've been begging him to make one for our 2 year old. He came up with a good basic model that he calls a 3-in-1. It's a 3-in-1 because our 2 year old will (1) sit on it as a seat, (2) sit in it as a desk to color, and (3) use it as a basic stepping stool. She fits in it so perfectly as a desk. She'll sit down and ask "color pease?" "paper pease?".

I'm so proud of myself for finishing a quilt this week for Maryanne from Scrappy Gifts, who is expecting her first baby girl any day now. The quilt is black/white, pink, and green. I used a rough edge applique technique for the squares. My husband had fun late one night helping me arrange the "random" pattern of the scrappy squares. I think it really turned out cute. Maryanne seems to like it as well.

Here's a pic of my two sweet time thieves:

Wish us luck!

March 23, 2011

Wow, it's been a long time!

I have really neglected this blog. Good news though! Baby Randy was born Dec 31st and is a very happy and healthy baby. And with his birth came the end of my Hyperemesis. JOY!!!

You know how when you neglect things it gets even harder to get back to them? Like the stack of laundry that never seems to have an end. Eventually you've got to stop everything, suck it up, and get it done anyways. (Especially when everyone in your house is down to their last set of undies). I guess that's how I've been with keeping up with this blog. It's not a negative thing, but I have had so much regret from neglecting it for so long, that I've felt like it'll be a bigger sacrifice of time when I finally get around to it. Well, here I am. It's 12:12 A.M. Everyone except for me is asleep, and I am posting this severely overdue post.

More good news! I am going to have a small booth at a local Craft Fair, the Spring Bazaar at Hilcrest High School in Idaho Falls, ID. (It always cracked me up in my mind whenever anyone said they were from Idaho Falls, Idaho as if they were just obnoxiously repeating their selves. Is there an Idaho Falls in any other place? Ah, well!) Please stop by and give me and my family a visit. I've been working on several infant and toddler skirts and ties, especially the Razzel Dazzel Skirt. My sweetheart is also making a few 3 in 1 benches (bench, toddler desk, step stool), I'm excited to see how they all turn out, so far I've only seen a prototype, which took a terrible fit to pry it away from my toddler. I wanted to get my patterns written and printed for the R.D. skirt and for the Fat Quarter Tie, but so far I haven't had any time. So, if you are interested in these, let me know at or after the craft fair, and I'd be happy to make it up for you.

Wow, forget gold, money, or diamonds! Time is the most valuable commodity on Earth, and there truly isn't enough to go around.Everyone is dished out equal portions, but still somehow it seems like others have been given greater or lesser rations than others. And some people waste their rations of time, while others barely have enough to survive. If anyone's not using some of theirs, please could you share it with me?

Well, I'm off to bed now. Let's see how long it takes me to publish a post again, hopefully not too long. Oh! PS! All of our items will be 20% off at the craft fair only. Leave a comment to this blog and mention it at the craft fair and we'll give you an extra 5% off.
