On the Move Again

Thanks to all of you loyal followers. Rosy Cheek Boutique is still very new. I had high hopes to get it going this year, but because I was sick for so long, I've neglected it a lot. Well good news. I'm feeling better. New news, we're moving yet again. I'm excited to have a new workroom with better lighting and storage space. Wish me luck!

I've been wanting to make some girls Halloween Skirts in any of the patterns previously posted. So, if you're interested let me know as soon as possible and I can get started on them. I'm not sure what to make for boys, how about a cape? Would that be fun? If you'd like me to make your little boy a cap for Halloween let me know his height and shoulder width.

I hope your Fall is exceeding your expectations, and that all of you parents with school age children that you find the break you've been waiting all summer for. Enjoy the few warm days we have left. Happy Autumn!

Back in the Game? Maybe.

To all of RCB's faithful followers, I'd like to apologize for neglecting you for so long. Although, that apology, doesn't get come with a promise that I won't do it again. If you read my last post on FaceBook then you've already heard. But for those of you who didn't here's your chance to read my lame excuse of why I've been neglecting you and the blog. I am pregnant. Yea! However, I also am one of those lucky 1 in 200 women who get to endure hyperemesis gravidarum during every pregnancy. To learn about this go to hyperemesis.org. For treatment I get to figure out how to swallow anti-nasea pills, and be cursed with a permanent IV (also known as a pic line, or TPN) in my arm and annoying cords and a heavy TPN bag & pump. So, all this fun stuff and chasing around my 18m daughter has really filled my summer.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel, though. I just made two twin size quilts for my husband's sisters (twins) who just turned 16 (Pictures of front of quilts below). Happy birthday girls! What does this mean? It means that I have been able to get off my bum and get something done. Yea for me! Any one who has suffered through hyperemesis gravidarum will understand this is a big breakthrough or a nice remission.

I'm going to try and push this remission to last as long as I can get it, and I'm going to try my darnedest to get back to work with Rosy Cheek Boutique. So, hopefully you can look forward to more products and posts.

May's Free Scrapbooking Pages Posted

These pages have actually been posted for a bit, I just never let you know here. This month's designs were dedicated to a charity that my grandparents both work with (quilt, show, and more), this is the Congenital Heart Defect Quilts. It raised awareness to the country and world about the reality of CHD and also does a number of fundraisers to support families with children with a CHD. Each block on the quilts is dedicated to a specific child. It will either be designed by the family, the quilter, or even the child. If a child ever passes away, then an angel or angel wings are added to the block to signify that that child has "earned his wings". There are well over 50 quilts made and they are shipped around the country for shows and fundraisers to support the cause. These quilts have served as both a beacon of hope as well as a memorial of love and support.

To learn more about CHD Quilts please visit chdquilts.org. They are also on Facebook and Blogger. If you know a family who are facing the fears of CHD, please let them know about this good program, and perhaps suggest dedicating a free quilt block to their child.

And the winner is...!

The dates are up and it is time to select a winner. Thanks to Random.org this isn't too hard to do. Comment # 33 wins! This means you, "The Prickly Pinecone"! You won a quilt from the Late Night Quilter. Congrats!

April's Free Scrapbooking Pages Are Now Posted

April's pages are finally posted. Sorry for the delay. Go to: Rosy Cheek Boutique Scrapbooking to check them out.
Here's a sample

Slow as a sloth.

I've kinda been slow at keeping this blog going. I've been working on a handful of projects lately and also we have moved to a bigger place. I now have a room devoted to sewing, scrapbooking, art, and crafts. I love it! With all of this business I've neglected blogging for a bit and have narrowed the number of orders that have been taken in.
Oh, another excuse for my neglect, which will probably continue for a little bit longer, is that I am learning how to re-upholster furniture. I am currently practicing on a couch we now call my daughter's couch. I've decided to go with a pastel green velvet that will be a challenge to work with, but at least it's a solid and not stripes or plaid. But I thought the green will go great for my daughter now paired with pink and yellow and later down the road it can be paired well with blue for a little boy's room. I'll post a before and after when I'm done.
As I've mentioned, I've ordered a couple of new patterns and am working on a couple of my own as well, so those all will be available whenever the patterns are done/in.

Thanks for your patience! Orders can still (always) be made by emailing me at kindredcraftsmail@gmail.com.

Winners of the Name-That-Skirt Give-A-Way!!!

It was really tough to choose between all the fun choices, but a choice had to be made. So our newly designed 3 layered ruffled skirt now has a name. It is the "Razzel Dazzel" skirt. I thought this name was fun and fit the design of the skirt very well. Our runners up were "Cutie Patootie" and "Twirlin Girlin". Some of my other favorites were: Daisies, Flower Jive, and Sugar & Spice.

Thanks to everyone for your support and participation. This was a lot of fun. For those of you who may not have won this time, keep checking in there will be more give-a-ways still to come!

A note to our winners: I will try to get in touch with you this week, but feel free to catch up with me first. I still need to write up your gift certificates and will need your addresses to mail or deliver them to you. Please do not offer your mailing address via blog comments. You may email them to me at kindredcraftsmail@gmail.com. Or if you see something that you already know you want to get, let me know and I can get started on it for you. (Easter is coming soon!)

Take a look to the right...did you find it? Yep, Rosy Cheek Boutique is now offering quilts. Also, we'd like to welcome Brittani Harris to the RCB team. She'll be focusing on designing and creating quilts. Yeah, Brittani!

Speaking of quilts, Porter's craft store is hosting a quilt show this week. We've got a quilt showing in it. Also Brittani's grandmother, Gwen Lusk, has one on display as well. If you live near Rexburg, Idaho be sure to go and see all the gorgeous quilts!

Up and Going

I've slacked off a bit on getting things going, but now it's a new month one with more days in it than the last. My goal this week is to get some Easter skirts and neck ties started and finish up the ones I neglected last month. Also, I still need post new free scrapbooking paper designs for the month of February. I had better get to work!

Here are the fabric selections I've chosen for a 12-18m stripwork skirt.

Here are the fabric selections (not completely final yet) I've chosen for a couple stripwork skirts (size not yet chosen).

Name that Skirt Give-a-Way!

Check out the new skirts that are now available. There is one NieNie skirt and one skirt that has yet to be named.

Let's make this a fun blog contest. Send your ideas for a name for the 3 ruffle toddler skirt. I'll choose my top three winners, and post them by Easter (sooner if there are names that are just awesome and can't wait). If your idea is one of the top three you'll get $5.00 gift certificate toward any item from Rosy Cheek Boutique or from Kindred Crafts. If your idea is chosen you'll get an extra $10 added to your certificate. Sound good? Be sure to follow this blog so that you'll be able to check to see if you won. You may send as many ideas as you can come up with, but will only receive one prize if more than one of your ideas is chosen.

Let the games begin!

** If you don't have an account that allows you to make comments on blogger then you may just email me and I'll post the idea for you. kindredcraftsmail@gmail.com **

Free Scrapbooking Paper Designs!!! January's Now Posted!

Here are some free scrapbooking paper designs. They should be set to print off on to letter sized paper. If you are one of the lucky (or spoiled) ones that actually have a printer that prints 12x12 let me know and I can send you the design in 12x12. If there is a design that you like, but you'd prefer it in a different color scheme let me know and I should be able to alter it.
All of the designs are free to be used for personal use. All I ask is that you please send your friends to this blog to get their free scrapbooking paper designs instead of you sending it to them directly.
My goal is to have new designs posted every month.

To print one of these designs simply click on the one you want, then right click the design and save it. Open the design from where you saved it and print as many as you need.

Easter Dresses (Skirts)

While I was at the mall this week I saw several mother and grandmothers too looking for outfits for their girls for Easter. I wanted to tell them about Rosy Cheek Boutique and the cute infant and girl clothes that they can order, but I of course chickened out each time and told my sister-in-law all the what-I-should-have's instead. Anywho, this game me the determination to make some skirts and matching accessories ready for Easter. Anyone know when Easter is this year? I haven't checked yet. So, first come first serve (for my time). If you place an order and you need it before Easter let me know and I'll try and push it up the list. Please be sure to try and give me enough time to make it (about a week for skirts) and to mail it off.
All right then, back to work!

Rosy Cheek Boutique

Do you remember in the movie 'Addams Family Values' when the two older kids were off at a summer camp and the Addams new baby was turning into a sweet loving baby that anyone except the Addams would love? One of the gasps that were said when the parents found that their baby was 'sick' was "Permanent?! Those golden curls! Those rosy cheeks! That smile!" This might be where the idea for the Rosy Cheek Boutique originated. So, if your looking for black and goth items for your baby or child, this may not be the place. ;)
Rosy Cheek Boutique items are homemade and stitched into every inch is a bit of joy to add to childhood. Take a look around and see what you like. If you do not have a Google account you may simply email me what you would like. Be sure to include size, gender, colors, patterns, etc. as applicable.
Rosy Cheek Boutique offers custom made items. This means that the item will generally be made after your order is complete and that it may take time to get to you after the order is placed, as it will first need to be made. If there is a deadline that you need your items by, perhaps for a little one's birthday, be sure to let me know.

This blog is still under construction. For now all item order requests will need to be emailed directly to KindredCraftsMail@gmail.com. Thanks!
